CENTRAL & EAST EUROPE IN FOCUS

The region that moves Europe’s grain

Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Danube region are not just part of the European grain map — they drive it.

This is where production meets export reality, where logistics define competitiveness, and where regional differences translate into market impact.

The third discussion panel of EuroGrainExchange 2026, Central and East Europe, Balkans and Danube – the biggest European supplier of grains and oilseeds, will take place on April 24 from 10:00 to 12:30, bringing this strategic region into focus.

Across the panel, traders and market participants outline how key origins interact — shaping flows not only within Europe, but across global markets.

The discussion will move through the key dynamics defining the region today. From Romania, Anda Zabava (Cargill Agricultura) will address the structural challenges facing the local grain market, while Andrei Hanganu (Oliva Grains) will explore the country’s dual role as both a major origin and a buffer zone for Balkan oilseeds. From Bulgaria, Todor Stoykov (BAGFT) will outline current trends and developments shaping the market, also taking the role of panel moderator and guiding the broader conversation. The importance of logistics and geography will be highlighted by Sergey Doskach (Vimeksim Serbia & Kreis V Switzerland), focusing on the Danube as the backbone of grain and oilseed trade across Central and Eastern Europe. Regional connectivity extends further east, where Nina Teleaga (Agrocereale / Rusagro-Prim) will examine Moldova’s position within the Black Sea grain trade — from origin and logistics to competitiveness. Completing the regional picture, Marcin Chim (SIGRUM / BST Brokers) will look at Poland’s growing role as a bridge between East and West, linking flows across European and global markets.
This is not just a regional overview — it is the operational core of Europe’s grain supply.
